Bizarrely Frank

In stanzas and in lines
  truth in fiction told
  where affection rules
  and governs the lives
of so many of us;
  how can I decipher?
   the meaning of these
   words that waste not
   want not to be understood?
ah, the fallacy of the argument;

In poetry and in prose
  meanings hidden made
  even made up within
  encrypted statements
this, a demonstration;
  and yet how could we run?
   from these silences
   that echo not what we are
   but a distortion of
and a broken image of how we feel;

In words and in voices
  spoken or sung
  real, imagined
  desired or bereaved
all, looking back;
  this line that I've traced
   questions why information
   is veiled and vague
   when we could
be so much better frank.
